Troop Funneling

I wanted to talk about ways to improve your defense techniques by funneling attacking troops.

There are ways to funnel troops with walls, buildings, and with decorations.

First up is wall funneling...

Using the approach of funneling attacking troops through walls can benefit you by giving your defense more time to take out the attacking force. As you can see in the picture above, troops will go towards the clan castle then work their way up to the air defense unit. In the meantime, while the troops are funneling through the walls to get to the air defense unit, they are being torn apart by the wizard towers and the mortars. Of course there's the traps that are placed that will decrease the amount of attacking troops that make it past the clan castle.

The picture above also gives us a good example of funneling with buildings. Buildings are just the units that can be destroyed. There are the three types of buildings when it comes to how troops react towards. Barbarians will attack anything... So they don't care what type of building or unit is involved. They will attacking the clan castle, barracks, or gold mines... Whatever is closest, they go for. Goblins will go straight for the resource buildings before attacking anything else. The giants will be the troop that will fall for the funnel effect most of all. They go straight for the defensive units and bypass all other buildings to get to their target. you can view each troops favorite target by selecting the info button in the barracks (dark barracks included).

Here's another example of funneling with walls:
This picture shows how easy it is to break up a persons strategy of using the wall breakers to get inside your main portion of your base. It also shows a good setup for town hall level 8.

Decorations for funneling?

Pictures should help with the explanation. You can see how decorations and walls were both used to funnel attacking troops. The troops were forced to gather together in one spot after stopping to fire. Nearby mortars or wizard towers are easily able to take them out with a few blasts...

I hope this helps out for setting up your defense or even what to look out for when attacking.

Splash Damage Upgrades

Hey everybody!

I wanted to start a post about what type of splash damage defense units seem to be the best choice.

We start off with Mortars and Wizard Towers....MAKE EM BURN!!!

Mortars...

In my opinion, this is the best thing to upgrade at each level. There are many advantages when it comes to using these to fend off attackers. Best part about them is how they can kill multiple troops at the same time and have a very long range. To me, this makes them one of the most powerful things we can use to protect our resources among other things. You can see in the picture below how far the range is for the mortar.

Wizard Towers...

Wizard towers are great for splash damage on troops attacking you. The best part about the wizard tower to me is, it doesn't have a black out or area where it can't keep shooting. The range is shorter when compared to the mortars, but you have that other advantage of being able to keep attacking the invading army. You can see in the picture below how far the range is for the Wizard Tower.

I'm interested in figuring out everybody's opinion of each of these awesome defense units would be your choice for upgrading.
If you post, try to put your game name in the comment.

Clash of Clans Farming

UPDATE regarding farming:

Do you want your banks to look like this???

OR

Farming is a great way to get resources that you need for upgraades. One of the keys to farming is to be at a good trophy count where you will not get hammered by players that can take you for everything you have. You also have to be aware about who to attack and get the most out of each attack.

If you are able to use archers and attack resources from a distance without alerting the defenses, it will pay off to gather from this type of situation. If the defenses are covering the resources well enough to where you can send in a few giants as distractions, try it out and see how much you can gather before the giants are knocked out.

Some people go the route of lowering their trophy count to be able to save resources and go from shield to shield and use their pumps or mines to gather for them. You can find these types of people will usually place their townhall just outside the reach of defenses. Most of the time, this will allow a player to attack your townhall for the trophy points they're looking for and to gather just enough resources to replace a few troops they might have lost. For this type of method, you will find that the trophy range from 1100 - 1300 will work fine. This range will set your base in the same range as other people that are trying to get to that 1250 trophy count for their gem prize.

There are a lot of different ways to go about farming in Clash of Clans. If anybody else has any other suggestions, let us know.

Archers

Hey everybody!
I wanted to add a reat video on this blog that talks about the archers that we all use day in and day out. It's found on YouTube and can help out when thinking of what troop to donate or what troop to use in attacks.

Lt Nixon is the person's name who makes these videos. Very helpful if you are trying to figure out a few things in Clash of Clans.
