Troop Funneling

I wanted to talk about ways to improve your defense techniques by funneling attacking troops.

There are ways to funnel troops with walls, buildings, and with decorations.

First up is wall funneling...

Using the approach of funneling attacking troops through walls can benefit you by giving your defense more time to take out the attacking force. As you can see in the picture above, troops will go towards the clan castle then work their way up to the air defense unit. In the meantime, while the troops are funneling through the walls to get to the air defense unit, they are being torn apart by the wizard towers and the mortars. Of course there's the traps that are placed that will decrease the amount of attacking troops that make it past the clan castle.

The picture above also gives us a good example of funneling with buildings. Buildings are just the units that can be destroyed. There are the three types of buildings when it comes to how troops react towards. Barbarians will attack anything... So they don't care what type of building or unit is involved. They will attacking the clan castle, barracks, or gold mines... Whatever is closest, they go for. Goblins will go straight for the resource buildings before attacking anything else. The giants will be the troop that will fall for the funnel effect most of all. They go straight for the defensive units and bypass all other buildings to get to their target. you can view each troops favorite target by selecting the info button in the barracks (dark barracks included).

Here's another example of funneling with walls:
This picture shows how easy it is to break up a persons strategy of using the wall breakers to get inside your main portion of your base. It also shows a good setup for town hall level 8.

Decorations for funneling?

Pictures should help with the explanation. You can see how decorations and walls were both used to funnel attacking troops. The troops were forced to gather together in one spot after stopping to fire. Nearby mortars or wizard towers are easily able to take them out with a few blasts...

I hope this helps out for setting up your defense or even what to look out for when attacking.

Leave some comments on what you think.
